Ambience. That’s how I look at my thrift findings. What sort of ambiance can they generate Read more
What I start with is a picture and look around to see if that picture could essentially happen in the space that I have. Next, it’s time to visit the thrift stores and peruse all the aisles for overlooked or underrated furniture. That’s where I found the woven basket stand and tray. It wasn’t instantaneous. I didn’t just walk in and it was right there in front of me (although that would have been nice). It took a lot of moving things around, looking under shelves and removing blankets and what not. All of my thrift pieces were hidden under something! it’s a realistic home design game called let’s see how dirty you get before you find what you think you want. Also please remember that almost everything has been used and discarded, but what’s another’s man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Keep a large reserve of patience if these dream home ideas are to ever become reality. We are about to exercise some reclaimed home decor moxie.
I had some time to really find what I wanted, and you should also invest that time for your own scavenger hunt and produce a worthy end product. Lurk like a stalker in those lanes, because I can’t emphasize enough that in order to have the best you could for home decor ideas, you must invest the time. There were a lot of side tables and tray options that could have worked for what I wanted, but I specifically wanted texture and color depth, that’s why for my tray and wine stand DIY project, I purposely used darker colors since I felt it gave more character to the pieces and created a contrast with the items that were placed on them, I mean you can’t just throw any old thing on there after all that effort. This is only MY preference, copper colored home decor kind of calls to me for some reason. However, for your own vintage or modern home decor, you can undertake any color palette you want and make it your own. DIY to your heart’s content!
