This project is for people who likes doing everything with their own hands. But this project is quite unusual.Today we will not make any decorations, clothing or accessories. We will make something hard core 🙂 So this DIY things is for the real men only. It will allow you to melt gold, silver, copper and aluminum. Sounds fantastic, isn’t it? And this will not cost you more that 200 dollars. Even though it is homemade, the temperatures may rise up to 2500 degrees, Incredible. So let us see what we need in order to buy a homemade foundry faucet. To make it easier and more understandable, I will describe the process step by step.Fist of all, you need to make a basis. For that you will need a drum. Take clean 15 gallon drum. You will not need it all, just part of it. That’s why you will need to cut out the middle. In order to do that mark off 4 inches from the top and 14 from the bottom. For convenience you can mark measures with the colored tape. Then cut the off with an angle grinder. After removing the central piece you will be left with a furnace body. Now you need to make a hole. Mark off a needed spot at the distance of 5 inches from the bottom and make a 2 inch hole with the help of the saw. Also, you will need a 3 and 1/4 hole in the center of the lid.
Let us proceed further. Take a 2 by 8 inch black pipe one end of which is cut with an angle. Drill 3 holes and weld nuts on the outside. Put the pipe into the drum and make sure that it fits well at a slight angle and the level is the same. For the next step a grass burner is required. You can buy one from Harbor Freight. Connect it to a 1/4 inch shutoff valve. Then connect that to a 6 and 1/4 inch brass pipe with other end capped off. For further instructions watch the following video.
